THE IMPORTANCE OF MENTAL HEALTH CARE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS: A LITERATURE REVIEW
Abstract
Health can be defined as the state of complete physical, mental and social well-being of the individual, not only the absence of disease or illness. Health professionals continuously face situations of instability at work, in environments that bring lack of security, either from the point of view of infrastructure or support, exposing them to constant risks. The present work aims to address the importance of mental health care of health professionals through a literature review. The methodology focused on the use of deductive methods focusing on the problem proposed by the work, and bibliographic review, with a qualitative approach with documentary research under criteria of relevance and adaptation to the established central theme. The mental health of these professionals has been addressed as a factor of concern, at the level of public health, due to daily instability, the need for continuous decision-making, in addition to long working hours. Such situations imply high emotional, physical and psychological exhaustion, against the lack of quality of life and health care. Mental health care should evaluate the professional in its integrality, such as being biopsychosocial, who needs care so that he can perform patient care effectively. The present study does not exhaust the questions on the subject, since follow-ups of the events reflect on the type of attention and continuity of it, emerging reflections that allow the improvement of care. It is necessary to consider the need to take care of the one who cares so that there is a better quality of health care.
